WOOD you? Woodworking and Makers thread for those who love making things

I know that there are several BTF members here who make sawdust on a regular basis.

I want this thread to be a sharing of projects large and small and also a place to ask and answer questions about wood, woodworking. carpentry, tools and tricks.
.
I have been the office admin at a cabinet shop for 9 years now. I absolutely love the craft!!
Our guys do beautiful work but are getting tired of not being able to do fun projects. We are so busy that
they just have to stick with our build schedule. We are currently trying to find other things that we can bring to the market other than
kitchen and bath cabinets.
Im going to try to find some fun things that our guys will enjoy building that we can take to
local farmers markets and sell.
Here's just a couple pics of their work

Absolutely stunning!
I didn't get into the relaxing fun stuff until after I retired. I spent 25 years as a trim carpenter building beautiful things for other people. After awhile it does drag a person down.

Isaiah 65:21-22 comes to mind
21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.

Thank you! We are proud of them. These pics aren't even the best they've done.
Proud to say we are one of the top cabinet shops in Northwest Arkansas and our employees have made it that way : )

My brother and I built a kitchen for my Mom this spring. She'd bought a fixer upper by the ocean, only way she could be so close, and hooo boy was it a fixer upper Hiding3

Over the past year we jack hammered out rotten concrete, ripped down walls, lifted walls and rebuilt foundation, ripped out floors and interior walls, endless painting, new electrical, turned the garage into a living room with a Tulikivi stove then installed a new kitchen. An IKEA kitchen, what she wanted, so no cabinetry involved, but omg what a project. The mold, the rot, the rat shit, it was all there. Collapsed ceilings. You could stomp your foot through the kitchen floor to the joists. There's so much more to do but now she has a quite nice solid and clean home no rot no mold.

My brother had all the skills I just had the enthusiasm to make it happen. Gotta start somewhere right?

Ermagerd! This is the thread for me.
The tablesaw sings the song of my people.
I am a fairy woodturner. It's like a fairy Godmother, but instead of sparkles, I leave sawdust behind.

That is very nice work you have done there. I especially like the chess board and the picnic table.

I have a complicated project in the works, but maybe I will turn something simple to show later.

Shadow Wrote:Wonderful thread, I'm not skilled but love working with wood. Birch is my favorite. We burn a lot of birch firewood and sometimes I cringe when a throw a particularly pretty piece in the fire.

Cedar is nice for the softwoods. This is a mesh box I built for my step-Mom's bulb storage. She's quite the gardener.
