My grandmother and her mother both had the first name of Kathleen. Neither of them liked the name, so they used their middle name of Sophia instead. 



My great-grandmother only had one eye at age 38, don't know how that happened.

just did a search on Dutch family with the same ancestry surname in the holocaust records and 24 died at Auschwitz. 

looks like some of them were taken from Holland to Sobibor extermination camp as there is a different list for that location. Another 10

All the records of each person have been uploaded. They were all born in Amsterdam.

I've found a long lost cousin that was at uni in Canada, she's living in London. She says the last time we met in London I gave her an American band album for her birthday and she heard a song from it a few weeks ago on the radio and mentioned it to her son. Synchronicity! I'd been looking for her on and off for decades but thought she was probably still in Canada. She's so happy that I've found her. 

I've found one Dutch man with the historical name (linked by DNA, and by name) still living in Amsterdam, he is in his 70s. 

Tracking your heritage on-line is awesome. 

On another track, I found that during the history of my great-great grandmothers lineage on dad's side they had changed their name to Citroen for naturalization. My great-great grand mother was a Citroen, but it had been changed prior to that.

Plus one of our ancestors moved to the Bronx, USA. She was one of the daughters of my great-grandfather on dad's side. So there might be distant relatives in America too.

WOW one of my cousins has been able to track all the way back to the 1400s.

My mother often spoke about her evacuation to a farm in Norfolk when she was a child, her parents brought her home cos all of hair fell out due to fretting and she stayed in contact with Norfolk family and would visit them sometimes. She was 5 years old.

Dad never mentioned that he was evacuated. Found a record that two Dairy Farmers in Oxfordshire took him and his closest sister in at 8 years old.  I have a photograph of them together, it must have been taken while they were there.

UPDATE 

They were living in England before they moved to the Netherlands. 

In the 1700's they were living in a port town not far from me.
