Genetic Testing
I'm enjoying the journey and it is a lot of fun.

Found out this evening that one of the great-grand mothers that was exiled from her family was pregnant with her first child two years prior to her marrying the father of the child. So it wasn't just because she married outside of her orthodox religion.

Also a family note attached to another document that her sister was also exiled from her orthodox family. Although he didn't share the reason. Still tracing the other siblings.  Chuckle

Then on my mother's side of the family, her mother was born in a workhouse and they were with two of her siblings, she probably turned to the workhouse for help because her husband had died the year that she gave birth and she had three babies to feed. A 7 year old, a five year old and a new born. I was already aware that she married twice and she did have more children.  Omg Chuckle

This is an interesting story of how genetic testing of Jewish people came to be.

Well, that was interesting.

My gran that was born to be a flapper, she went to a lot of parties and saw a lot and that's why she wouldn't let mum go to parties. She was very strict due what she had witnessed.

How Art Deco Shaped the 1920's.

Yes it is fascinating that a detriment in health can be impacted by whom one marries.

My father’s side of the family immigrated from Ireland to Virginia in 1653. My brother is named after that man. My mother’s grandmother was full blood Creek Indian so I have a crazy mix. I have black hair like my mom but my brother and sister have red hair like my Dad. My older sister has been doing genealogy for almost 40 years with the help of an uncle who is a lawyer in New Mexico and they published a large book on my dad’s side of the family. Something that I found funny is that we have a relative from 634 AD named Charles the Simple.
We have a relative who was traveling with John Wilkes Booth after Lincoln was assassinated. And Lincoln’s wife is in my mother’s side of the family.
I’ve never done genetic tests but someone may have done it since they take blood from me every time I have a physical.

I think that is awesome. There are a handful of us old families left. I have four different plus races in me. I look like my Irish Mother. She mean. She beats us. It's horrible. If my wife is around she joins in to protect the one with the broom. Our Ladies are evil. grunt grunt  scratch

There is a female Citroen in my Dutch ancestry, she married my great-great grandfather and my dad's side of the family.

The name Citroen originates from the Dutch word "Limoenman" meaning "Lemon man." which was the surname of Andre Citroen's grandfather, a greengrocer in the Netherlands that sold tropical fruits. The family name as changed to "Citroen" upon their arrival in France with Citroen meaning "lemon" in Dutch. When the family moved to France, the French diacritical mark, the diaeresis (") was added to the 'e'in the surname, resulting in "Citroen". This change is reputedly attributed to one of Andre Citroens teachers. The name was later adopted as the brand name for the automobile company founded by Andre Citroen in 1919.

His mother's homeland was in Poland. He started Citroen with an inheritance from his mother.

Citroen was the first to write in the sky with an airplane in 1922.

After the occupation of France, the Nazi's captured many of Citroens half-track vehicles and armored them for their own use.

Interesting story.

Coincidence that during my career in London, two of my clients were car manufacturers in two of the agencies that I worked for.

It must be awesome to be able to track it back that far, 634 AD is incredible.

I must admit I do find it a bit mind boggling, although it is very helpful that so many. people have engaged with the tracking, the tips and hints make it so much easier to navigate. it starts to get complicated when people have more than one spouse, had children out of wedlock, etc etc. Its crucial to ensure that the dates correlate. It also complicates it when children or grandchildren have the same birth name as their grandparents.

So I'm just doing a little bit at a time, baby steps for me with ancestry.

I've got 40 DNA relatives living in America, 66 living in England, 27 in Australia and 3 living in New Zealand.

Ancestry is so much fun.

I realized that by engaging with this I'm leaving a map for the children of the future to trace their ancestral roots.
