How do you “mention” other users in posts?

I see you can mention other users with the @ sign and it even creates alerts.  How is that done?  I don’t see a shortcut.  Thank you…

Either type @ "username" - without the space but with the quotation marks...

Or, just type @ immediately followed by the first couple of letters of the username, then click the popup you see with the username complete...
