I saw Nike is already moving production out of China.  Now if we can get some kind of domestic pork farming/production back in the US again.....
I think I read correctly that 1 in 4 of all hogs slaughtered in the US for commercial use comes from Smithfield....yup.  Article is here:

I buy all my meat from a local slaughter house who butcher their own stock that is all grown local. Costs more but it is like anything you get what you pay for. Great family business and they are down to earth. When I was a kid on the farm they butcherd our cattle and hogs. Great to see these local businesses survive and provide amazing service compared to the big stores.

Yeah, with the 1/2 steer, the up front cost isn't cheap but it averages out to like 3-4$ per pound. Never worried about doing it w/pork, as it is usually pretty cheap, but I already saw the price jump almost $1/lb in the last week.

Do you already supply them with information? For example in tax returns or commercial licensing?

No they seem to be fishing !! We are a campground on two former farms ! No real agricultural farming just a little hobby stuff !
