It was a hole where the mortar have washed away where the people who built the house messed up laying block and had a joint that was about 3 inches wide. This hole was about 2 feet down on the back side of the house which has higher soil elevation. I dug out to below the hole, packed it with mortar and back filled with rocky concrete mix. My father and I also have removed just about all the insulation from between the joists. We also removed the duct work and will be installing new duct once all other repairs have been made. This weekend I will be laying block so by the time I order the lumber and it is delivered, most of the prep will have been done. I have also purchased 5 20 ton bottle jacks, a pack of 50 lag screws, 10 pounds of 3 inch hex head deck screws, 3 pounds of 4 inch hex head construction screws, 2 cases of heavy duty liquid nail, some lighting, a new impact driver to go with the one I already have and a impact wrench.

The only thing left to do prep wise is remove all of the water lines, which need to be done anyhow as it is all old copper. I won't do this though until I absolutely have to because once cut out I will have no water to wash with until I get the new pvc water lines hooked up.

All in all though, decent progress.
A lot of work I'm impressed. Thanks for the update.

Fill up your bathtubs with water in case the repairs take longer.

It's been a little while figured I would update this thread with my progress(or lack thereof).

Things had been going good, have sistered over half the floor joists under my house, scabbed the entire length of beam, installed cross member braces and installed a short 8 foot beam between the main beam and the rim joist to provide additional support under one of the rooms. Then the deluge came this past weekend and I discovered more water is still getting into the crawlspace of it rains hard enough. Quite a bit of it in fact. I identified 3 places and dug down to the footing on the back side of my house.

I patched the holes put down about 600 pounds of concrete on top of the footing for good measure. I then backfilled the trenches. All was good, or so I thought. Last night it rained hard, for a solid 10 hours. This morning I go under the house and discover fresh water standing on top of the ground, large muddy areas.

I'm at my wits end as to what to do. I think I am going to dig up the entire back of the house, down to the footing or maybe even deeper, and back fill the entire trench with hydraulic concrete.

Either that or sell this place as is for 100k and no nice out. Getting to old and fucked up to constantly work on this shit.

Probably better & cheaper to drain tile the footings to give the water an easier path to take.

You are likely right.

Today I installed new, larger gutters. This week I am going to dig a ditch at the base of the hill which is behind my house and I am going to begin dumping dirt and building a mound behind my house that I will slope to the sides of the house and tape off going down in elevation towards my front yard. I included a rudimentary drawing that may give you an idea of what I am planning to do.
