So my current tv has developed a big white/light patch thaty eats up about 1/3 of the upper left of the screen. I can still see what is going on but it is distracting when I decide to watch something on it. It also has become glitchy so I think it is about time to replace it. Thing is I can't really decide on what to go with. I know the big 3 are LG, Samsung & Sony. I also know the budget kings are TCL & Hisense. I thought about getting the best of the budget models, which according to the internet is the tcl qm851g since it is currently on sale at best buy. The 75 inch one is $1299. I just keep seeing people complain about getting one that hums, some people say they look like shit next to a sont, they require beta firmware to look good, etc. So I don't really know if I should get it. Then I thought about either a 77'' LG B4 or C4. Those are both oled, so they both would have good picture quality with the c4 being the higher end version of the two. Then I saw people posting about green tint on the c4, the b4 not getting bright enough/worse processor not to mention oled can apparently get perma image retention. So again I got cold feet. Then I thought about getting  one of the higher end Samsung mini leds or their oled but apparently their oleds are prone to image retention, more so than the lg's and their mini leds are dog shit due to panel lottery. So again back to square one. Then I looked at the Sony's and saw they cost about as much as a kidney so that was that.

Any suggestions? What kind do you guys have?

I have 2 Vizio's. One is at least 16 or more years old and I love that thing, just your basic flat screen. After retirement I purchased another one for the living room - it's a 'smart' TV and I hate it due to the 'smartness' of it, but I find Vizio is a pretty reliable brand. Both were purchased at Walmart.

Good luck making a decision!

I currently use a vizio as my pc monitor. This particular one is actually a warranty reman because the first one quit about a week before the warranty went out. So they sent me this one. Its been pretty reliable. I do not use the smart features on it, have never connected it to the internet (I think thats what killed the first one, firmware update, then it started to hum then quit). Vizio has a horrible os so that might be part of why you dislike its smart features. Walmart bought out vizio and apparently they have gone completely to shit now.

if you don't resolve the issue, my only other comment is to shop in person, don't buy online depending on what others (or AI summaries) say.

Me too!  Try Walmart, see what their deal 'du jour' is.

I'm pretty sure what's wrong with mine is a bad case of backlight bleed or separation of the layers of the panel. Even if it were fixable it has other issues, a firmware update made it laggy and now it turns off/on by itself sometimes. Just time for a new one. Kind of hard to shop in person because the nearest store with quality TV's is a good hour drive and I don't really wanna transport a giant box that far. I don't really listen to paid reviewers(including ai). What I do is go to forums and places like reddit and see what people who own the product are saying about it. I look for patterns of qc problems, etc. I also look at specs and if possible find out what the internals are (in the case of a tv what kind of chipset, who makes the boards, etc) to get a feel of it's quality. This current tv I just picked the cheapest Sony I could find and now that decision is showing. This time I would like to make a better informed decision. It would be nice to have a good tv store local to browse though.

Walmart is literally the worst place to buy a TV from. Ally local Walmart have are edge/direct lit led's with 60hz IPS or va panels with no wide angle layer i.e bad pq. Not that Iam above using a TV like that, I just wanted something better this time/ or at least something that isn't e waste right out of the box.

My last three black mirrors have all been Samsung. Only problems were getting the damn thing in the car. They are 12, 7, 5 years old. I’m sure you know to avoid the built in @lex@, ghoulgull type nonsense.  Heartflowers
