Anyone here ever use a seedbox?
I decided to try one out for a few months and see what all the hubbub is about. I know people use them for a variety of reasons including torrenting linux distros
, media servers & data back up so they don't have to store all of their files locally, irc servers, vps, etc..
It seemed overwhelming at first, but it isn't really all that difficult after a few hours of messing around in the control panel. The one I went with gives 3tb of storage with 8tb of upload bandwidth each month on a 50gbps shared connection but honestly I probably should have started with less. I moved some files over to the server using filezilla and I saw transfer speeds upwards of a gigabit so pretty good. I still don't really know why I decided to get it tbh, but it is interesting to say the least. I thought about maybe backing up some of my favorite films and tv shows from dvd/bluray and setting up a plex server for streaming if it doesn't prove to be to difficult.
