Same here, Lancaster, 'Pendle Witch Land'.  There's something magical about this place... imo from a guy that's well travelled.
Supermarket security couldn't deal with the number of ppl that said no to masks/restrictions - and, co-ordinated, left 100's of trolleys full of food when questioned, blocked access to the shop, it was organised on the fly by the locals, wonderful tbh.
We got together on social media and flooded them with wasted food, 2 wks in, we had no checks for 'masks'.
Ready for the next one too. We meet to discuss how we're gong to deal with cameras, 15 min city garbage, and more ;)

One good reason for that mighty claim is our history - heart of history in this region or 4000 years - maybe more in prehistory - Large Iron age settlement is known before significant Roman era settlements also (Called by them Ratae... - meaning rampart or fortification shows our Town walls pre-date their (about) 70AD invasion Roman walls - and highly likely Bronze age collection of Tons/Tuns/Towns = Now the villages like Syston or Thurmaston where I was born (just North of the city - born on Bradgate Avenue incidentally, Bradgate, not that far away was the home of Lady Jane Grey "Queen for Nine Days" - not covered in this history, although I may find another video after this OP)...

I just came across this fast and furious "Hidden History of Leicester" series of only 11 episodes from 18 minutes to 30 minutes each, which I though I'd share (Give him some love in likes etc on YT as I'd like him to make more)...

It seems he just made these during lock-down for the coov and had to go back to work - another point on that, Leicestonian FU attitude can be seen = NO work unless .gov approved "essential work", mask mandates, stay at home unless shopping for essentials = you can see the not an F given attitude given by my Town, no masks, eating lunch on the grassland, walking in the parks and city centre, etc - Love this place...

Anyhoos - for now, the videos...

Enjoy and comment as you goo through them - if you feel so inclined...

Bumping as I missed this when it was posted. Just woke up from a nap so, too groggy right now to read. Thanks for sharing, Munch!

I just discovered this thread also! Looking forward to spending some time watching the vids. I have done some genealogical research and my birth mother’s side came from western Yorkshire to the Colonies in 1650. I have had a lifelong love for England and since I learned my ancestry it validates that interest.

Thanks for the education, @Munchaab!

Good news - the creator of the videos contacted me after I asked if he'd make more...

He's working on another episode, likely to run into 4 parts - hopes to be out in the next couple of months...

He's back - it's an eight part mini-series, not the four he 1st thought, so took him a while...

Part one, for now (23 mins):

FUCK YEAH!!! Seriously, I envy the English (well europe in general) with having roots that go that deep. America doesn't have that. I am proud of local and regional history, but hundreds of years with my city (tops) vs 4-40 centuries? No contest.
