The afterlife
Found this thread today, and have been checking it out, enjoying it.

I have this to share:

Imagine Heaven
by John Burke

Quote:Over the past thirty-five years, I've read or heard close to 1,000 near-death stories (there are millions out there), I started seeing amazing commonalities across stories--intriguing, detailed descriptions by doctors, professors, commerical airline pilots, children, people from around the globe. Each gave a slightly different angle to what started to look like a very similar picture.

An excellent account of hundreds of NDEs, These come from all walks of life, all religions, and all colors of people. They may or may not change perspective. Well, prolly not. lol

My Dad had an NDE, but he didn't die. He had been out pulling calves all day, returning home, he pulled in front of a train going 55 miles an hour. The headlight looked like the lights of the little town. The force of the collision spun his pickup truck up into the air, where the cab continued to spin around and around. Dad said with each spin it looked like he was going to ram into the speeding train. He kept his hand on the handle, planning to jump. Finally, the old pickup settled, dad went for the handle, wouldn't budge, jammed shut.

The truck lost the back end. His vet medicine was completely pulverized by the force, couldn't find any bottles left anywhere. The family doctor brought him home. Mom was always laughing, said, "What happened, Charlie, did you get hit by a train?"

Well ya. He did, though he didn't have a scratch to show for it. It wasn't anything occult that saved him. Madame Blavatsky had nothing to do with it. He had no time to meditate or bend photons and protons. There was no time for him to do anything at all. Nonetheless, he definitely had a helper. A few short years later, Dad, my brothers and I lost our mother. We would have been orphaned at that point. So by extension, we had helpers, too.

Tis a wonderful place we have down here, there are so many who want to really muck it up, destroy God's beautiful creation. It's easy to spot them at this point.

I did have a visit when Dad had his DE (death experience) years later. He did not come back to us, but something came to me to let me know he was happy and had gone home. A beautiful rose and golden light went through me, wracked with grief, sobbing. The experience put an end to my tears, and I immediately found peace.

Anyhoo, we have immortal souls, we have protection, there really isn't much to fear in the great, big scheme of things. But our experiences are so different, we are all shaped in very different ways, like the stars above. I don't propose to change anyone else's mind on the matter. I do feel it is perfectly okay to 'believe' and have 'faith' though, we believe according to our experiences. We are faithful to that which has never let us down. As long as we have the notion to have a look see at our own damned selves from time to time, we should be okay.
