Here we are nearing another hurricane season. Much has been done to help those affected by  Helene. It will be years before the residents are able to relax and see good for all the hard work.

Recovery is proportional to the work expended in each individual situation.
Unfortunately Appalachia is home to a lot of generational helplessness. Either incapable or unwilling to achieve self sufficiency.

The ugly side of charity. Some folks are takers, ungrateful to the bitter end. No amount of charity will ever lift them up from the manure pile they choose for themselves.

That was well worth the half hour invested.

The rewards will be known for eternity. 

Helping the poor is not just words on a page,  there are quite a strange little economy that goes on there and the welfare state doesn't help it.  Congress and the wealthy create problems for the rest of us, but that's not all there is to it.  Quite complicated.
