is something wrong with my baby grapevine?

it is a Lowe's baby, planted three/four months ago, ZONE 9a
its a CATAWBA grape.
idk if this coloring and spots are normal?
should they drop leaves in winter?
do i need to cover it during a freeze (i have been)
it's my first grapevine.
ive watched a ton of growing grape videos already but i still dont know.

If you got it at your local store, I am guessing that one is ok for your weather, but in general grapes require cooler weather. Did the label say hardiness zone 9?
Is hard to see in the picture, but if you are refereeing to the red color, could be ok. But if they are like fuzzy spots, it could be aphids. What type exactly of grape you bought? Have you look online at how the plant will look when fully grown?
If you have aphids you can save it using an insecticide, read labels, make sure they are for your aphids, because aphids adapt to the way the plant looks and are resistant to different things.
