Machete use on Brambles!
This is just a test for the Gardening prefix ....

When using a machete on the brambles down the end of your garden, please wear thick gloves and be very aware of your down swing!

You may 'miss' your intended target and then end up with the blade hitting you Scream1

I think it depends on what kind of brambles whether you should use a machete. I only take mine if I'm cutting through brush to get through it. If I'm pruning and trimming I use hand clippers and go slower because the hand clippers are more precise and effective but they are not for when you're hiking or hunting, etc.
Machete doesn't work too well around the thick thorns. Since it can double as a weapon, you feel more protected if something jumps out at ya.

I can comprehend that but in the UK not much is going to jump out at me lol .... I use it only really once a year when I have to cut back the bottom of the garden (which is always over run by brambles).

Just began to do it today (as to why I considered it as a post)

Chopping it all back, you do need to be careful about exactly the 'path' of your swing!
Get it wrong and you will hit your self (having never been trained as a child to use a "short sword") Dammed

i lost a diamond stone from a wedding ring ecause i didnt wear gloves or take off my jewelry.(it was in a raised setting)
it went somewhere into the compost that day because back then, i did not have a tool and had to turn it by hand.
