Just listened to weather forecast, its storm ANTONI, up to 70mph gales will definitely impact on flights too. Crossing the channel on boats from France would be fatal.

Looking at car insurance due to that woman's brand new EV car being a write-off due to being damaged by water. 

This link says that people that have fully comprehensive insurance are covered for flooding by water of a car. Although 3rd party insurance isn't. 

Although even then insurers have to know whether the flood damage was avoidable and all precautions were taken to avoid getting your car flooded. 

Avoidable is any damage that should have been anticipated and taken steps to stop it happening. (e.g. don't drive your car in a storm when there has already been weather warnings). 

Unavoidable is what you were unable to predict or get away from. 

If your car is damaged by flooding people are advised to do the following: 

Avoid opening the bonnet

Avoid restarting the car

Turn on the Hazard Lights 

Contact the insurer

Avoid trying to dry the car yourself.

Cross posting this with the dog thread because Oregon state has been hit by a rare form of pneumonia that is killing dogs, there are so many cases in Oregon that the vets are full of it. Asher House say they don't know what is causing it in Oregon. The issue is that the dogs don't show any sign of it until the dogs are on their last legs, so it's very difficult for the vets to save the dogs that get the viral infection.
