OXALATES = Degenerative/Chronic Conditions
Another aspect of Gluten free diets is that the alternatives are all high in oxalates.

The Gluten Free Society wrote the following:

"For some, gluten damages the lining of the intestines and causes inflammation. As a result, more oxalates are absorbed into the bloodstream".

"For some a gluten free or grain free diet isn't enough".

I did a word search on the word OXALATE and it led to an Ancient Greek root word "OXUS" that means "Sharp". The word is found 6 times in the book of Revelations in the NAS translation.

Oxalates destroy animo acids, minerals and impacts adversely on the functioning of the body. It manages to get into the tissues in the body and even contaminate the blood.

So what can destroy oxalates? Citric acid from fresh Lemons. Probably why the Greeks cook their potatoes in the oven in lemon juice, olive oil and water.

What did Jesus say?

He spoke of AMINO ACIDS (25th October, 2020) while I was working with a friend with blood cancer. He spoke while I was praying for friends and family.

While praying again for my buddy on the 17th December, 2020 he replied, Oxidative Stress.

A former nurse that I trained in the three degrees of Reiki, shared that her doctors had told that she had destroyed her pancreas by eating too much fruit. She shared that she used to eat a large bowl of fruit for breakfast, then eat fruit again at lunch time and after dinner. She was clearly putting far too much fruit with oxalates in her body.

Do you think Rh negs have more tendency to have uric acid problems? I am a stonemaker myself and so have to monitor.

I don't think so, but tbh I've never studied different blood types if that is what you are referring too.

I found it quite easy to bring down my uric acid levels. I proved to them that I wasn't "pre-diabetes" like they thought. So I don't have to see that nurse anymore for six monthly blood work.

Has previously written on this thread uric acid levels collide with oxalate acid in "gout" so one of my questions for Sally Horton would be what is the mechanism for that and how it happens.

You probably know that they can test your uric acid levels from your urine, they can also do the same with oxalates.

Although a cloudy urine is a sign of oxalate overload. That's obviously different to a pink urine.

What changes have you made to your diet @gallowglassie and have you watched any of Sally Horton's interviews?

PS

I read a book on Uric Acid that was very good, it's called ''DROP ACID" by Dr David Perlmutter, I can recommend it. He's got some YT interviews uploaded too.

OXALATES = Degenerative/Chronic Conditions
Good morning I tried to post this at the C&B this morning, but when I tried to post the thread told me it had been closed. So we await for the next version of the C&B to be opened.

I was going to write in response to @FlyoverCountry has he posted information about the rapid weight loss drug that people have been taking and the detrimental impact it is having on people's bodies. Apart from the posts he shared, another aspect of rapid weight loss is that it increases uric acid levels wrote Dr David Perlmutter.

Sally Horton also recommends that people take it slowly when detoxifying their bodies from oxalate because people have been consuming very high levels of oxalates in America since childhood and it can take years to remove the oxalates that are causing chronic diseases and inflammation. Why is this connected with uric acid levels? The source link for that has already been shared on this thread, it is proven that uric acid and oxalates collide in the cause of gout.

Sally Horton's book is incredibly well written and researched, she is certainly a wordsmith, once you begin to read her book it's like being on a supersonic jet taking you to the destination.

I'm not a great book reader due my butterfly brain getting bored very easily, not many non-fiction authors can hold my attention, not once have I felt like that reading Sally's book, there are major points throughout the book, it's one of those books that if I had the time I would sit and read it non-stop from cover to cover. So what I'm saying is that there isn't any padding or fluff in Sally's book, its all action, getting has much information to you has succinctly has possible. It is certainly an award winning book and should be in the best sellers list.

So going back to doing it slowly, I began by cutting out a majority of potatoes in my diet to shed weight in February (prior to knowing they were high in oxalates). Sally writes that red skinned potatoes are lower in oxalates than other potatoes, and red capsicum are lower in oxalates than the other colours. I usually only have red peppers anyway due to that colour having higher nutrients than the other colours. I don't eat spinach very often so that is easy to cut out of my diet completely.

During my life I know that I haven't consumed enough dairy to impact on the reduction of oxalates, and since February I have increased my dairy intake. This week I've increased the amount fresh lemon juice I consume. So with my meatballs last night I had a lemon juice and olive oil dressing on my cucumber and wild rocket salad. Lemon juice is also great of Vit K. I do take a  D3+K2 supplement 10,000 IU some days and I get mine from a small reliable source in England.

My goal is to bring down oxalates to a manageable level for the body by tinkering with my menus. In the first instance my aim is to bring it below 200mg then I will review it again. People that had kidney stones and gout are advised by medics to reduce oxalates to 50mg. That is very little when you bear in mind that a medium sized potato is nearly 80mg and a portion of spinach is nearly 800mg, spinach being the highest of the foods found to date.

Oxalates do impact upon metabolism and that is where we get a cross-over with Dr Atkins work and the mechanism of switching the body from a sugar burning metabolism to a fat burning metabolism by going for a high protein and low carb diet. Our bodies are meant to be lean. Plus ketosis is like a disinfectant for the body.

There are no oxalates in meat and fish, there is no oxalates in many foods, so I don't view it has being overly strict, one can adapt your menus easily with creativity. There isn't even any oxalates in ice cream, coconut or a glass of white wine. Last night I had ice cream with fresh lemon juice and golden raisons that had been soaked in gin. No oxalates has far as I'm aware.

Its about be being mindful of what you are eating and realise that this is not a diet it is a medical intervention. All sorts of conditions are associated with oxalates including eyesight, hearing, and oxalates can even impact upon the brain.

You've encouraged me to look this, one of the symptoms at birth is jaundice and this link says it is caused by biliruben (one of the end products or red cell destruction).

However, I had jaundice and an herna after birth because they cut my umbilical cord too short, I screamed in pain for ten days until I was taken to hospital and operated on.

OXALATES = Degenerative/Chronic Conditions
Book Reviews of "Toxic Superfoods" by Sally Horton.

"Sally Norton's well-researched book makes a truly important contribution in revealing just how much oxalates can damage the human body. The conventional advice to eat 'mostly plants" is seriously challenged by the reality that plants contain known toxins". Nina Teicholz, author of "THE BIG FAT SURPRISE".

"What if your favourite superfood was actually a supervillain? Sally Norton mastefully pinpoints the changes in our food system and eating style that have turned a common naturally occurring toxin into a potential public health crisis" Aaron Blasidale, Phd, professor of behavioural sciences and editor in chief of the Journal of Evolution and Health.

"I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been wrestling with poor health and not gotton the answers they need from the medical profession". Neil Nathan, MD, author of Toxic.

Some quotes inside the book cited by Sally Horton.

"Despite the fact that oxalate-containing plants are used in cooking, their ingestion may nonetheless lead to poisoning". Pedro Sanz, and R.Reig, MD, American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, 1992.

Prevention of dietary hyporoxaluria (high levels of oxalate in the urine), by avoiding excessive intake of foods high in oxalate or its precursors, should be part of the dietary education of the public. Y Sun, MD, et al., Cureus, 2017.

"The truth of the ancient adage, that "the knowledge of a disease is half its cure", is more than confirmed in the diagnosis of oxalic diathesis, for, as certainly has we discover the persistent presence of the characteristic crystal in the urine, so certainly do we possess the means of a cure in appropriate diet". James Begbie, MD, Monthly Journal of Medical Science, 1849.

"Feed a man pulverised glass and he is will die; permit him to chew the leaves of Dieffenbachia seguine quickly his tongue is pierced by a million oxalate raphides and he suffers untold agony". B.G.R. Williams, MD, and E.M. Williams, MD. The Archives of Diagnosis, 1912.

This guy had a double hip replacement. He says he's convinced that oxalates were the cause of his hip issues.
