Make acquaintances with someone who raises chickens so you can get replacement hens when yours quit laying.

They never stop crowing during the day. That’s what got me the complaint. He’s out there raising Cain right now…

They really don't want people to have chickens. 6 hens, laying an average of 250 eggs per year divided by $300. That's roughly $2.40 a dozen. Not too bad an investment. if you put a sock over their head when they are molting (june/july) you can put them on their back in your lap and pull the down easily, to save for pillows.
