If you're on a grid-tie system and the grid goes down, there's no power going to the solar panels to keep you going when you switch to batteries. I thought that was the whole point of doing all of that.

And, unless you have a specifically configured system called “sunlight backup,” your solar array will shut down if there’s a grid outage (this is to code for the safety of line workers, working to re-establish power).

You go to a gas station to get real gas.  But it comes out of the same hose that the gasohol comes out of?

Can't you guys do this right?  Make the real gas and the gasohol come out of separate hoses.
