Ingredients
  • Chips
  • Bread
  • Butter
  • Brown sauce
  • Salt & pepper

Method
  • Turn on oven to 230c
  • Once oven up to temp .... get chips from freezer
  • Randomly distribute frozen chips on a oven dish (be sure to have more than ya need so as to have some cold in the morning .... which are good dipped in mayo)
  • Place in oven and go do something else for 25 mins
  • Now get and butter (on 1 side only) 4 slices of bread
  • Remove now near burnt chips from oven and scrap (in sort of equal proportions) on to 2 of the buttered sides of the bread slices
  • Salt and pepper to ya liking over the chips
  • Drizzle copious amounts of Brown Sauce on both surfaces of chips
  • Now .... place the other 2 buttered slices of bread (butter side down) on to the top of said chips
  • Press firmly down until brown sauce oozes out the sides

Grab a beer and retire to your preferred seat .... Now wonder why ya never put a fried egg in to each as it would have been so much better and last time you thought the same but still you didn't 1dunno1

The correct version is HP Sauce and has been around for some time .... actually wiki (who I hate) states since 1895 , 128 years ago?

Quote:HP Sauce has a tomato base, blended with malt vinegar and spirit vinegar, sugars (molasses, glucose-fructose syrup, sugar), dates, cornflour, rye flour, salt, spices and tamarind.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Sauce

There are different ones but HP is the 'classic' and proper brown sauce for English breakfasts (and chip butties) Yep

Uncle Bezos had a four-pack for 20 bux,

Well in Asda over here (which is Walmart) it is £3.89 for a 600g bottle .... so I don't know if $20 is ok or not 1dunno1

450g four-pack ~ 5 bux a top-down bottle ~ a good bit higher than you pay ~ but hey ~ it doesn't swim across the Atlantic for free.

I was willing to pay the price, so it was a good deal.   Chuckle

The HP arrived the other day!   [Image: p3fr2lI.gif]

I recall seeing that stuff on the tables when I've visited Canada ~ never tried it.

So far, I've had it on scrambled eggies ~ very good.  And yesterday, made some corned beef with eggies on the side with toast.  Also, very good.

It adds some extra flavor to things that are otherwise a bit bland.  Good bit of vinegar taste, but not enuff to slap the crap outta' ya'.

Verdict:  I like it and will keep it in the condiment line-up.    Yep

Now, if I can just summon the guts to make a French Fry sammich.   Lmao

I'm not a big fan of brown source but it is great...

Try it as a side (dip) on a traditional English breakfast...

I do not know everything, I know just enough to know that I know nothing - which is just a little more than those who think they know anything!
